1. Safety
Every year in the UK 50 people die from carbon monoxide poisoning as a result of broken and damaged gas appliances and boilers. (Top tip – for peace of mind keep a carbon monoxide alarm in the room your boiler is kept)
2. Save Money
Regular servicing of your boiler can help to improve efficiency, reliability and reduce heating bills. You’ll be able to fix any issues right away and your boiler will be less likely to break down later on. A healthy and well maintained boiler will most likely last longer than a boiler that hasn’t been serviced, therefore saving you money on needing to buy a new boiler
3. Guarantee and Warranties
Many boiler warranties and guarantees require the boiler to receive an annual service, failure to do this can void your warranty or guarantee.
4. Save Money on Repairs
By having your boiler serviced regularly and maintaining it correctly you can save money in the long run as repair costs associated with boilers that aren’t serviced tend to be much higher than maintenance costs for those that are. Problems with your boiler, no matter how small they may be, will only get worse the longer you ignore them. You don’t want to leave your boiler to its own devices all summer and let it break down when you turn the heating on in November.
5. Law for Landlords
It is a legal requirement for Landlords to have boilers in commercial and rented properties serviced annually a CP12 Inspection Certificate must be issued. The required checks you need to carry out every year do include boilers, but it also includes any other gas appliances you may have – gas stoves, for example.
